Following the upcycled coffee extraction process, Coffeeco further process the leftover organic material into an organic fiber. The organic fiber is used as raw material to produce a sustainable plastic compound which in turn is used to produce final plastic applications with enhanced sustainability.
Our current applications are focused on non-food-based polypropylene applications. Today, 15% of the total compound is made of this coffee derived organic fiber. In other words, 15% less petrochemicals are used to produce such compounds. Our aim is to reach 40% within 2025.
Coffeeco is developing similar compounds with HDPE (High Density Polyethylene), LDPE (Low Density Polyethylene) and PET plastic compounds for both non-food and food-based applications.
